1933-2024

Information

Rosella Cerrini Bizzotto, born July 7th, 1933, passed away April 30th, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Rosella Cerrini Bizzotto on April 30th, 2024. She passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was married to Virgilio Bizzotto who died in 1975. She is survived by her three sons; Gianpietro (Anna Lucchesi), Carlo (Angela Russo), and Federico (Jorge Ramos). Also beloved grandmother to five grandchildren; Jesse (Lauren), Victoria, Sara, Stefano, and Alessandro. Great grandmother to Sophia, Leila, Leo, Carmela.

Rosella was born in Tuscany , Italy. The fourth of five children, she is survived by her older sister, Giulia. She married her husband Virgilio in August of 1956 and immigrated to Montreal in search of a better future. She worked as a finishing seamstress where she excelled in her craft and worked for one of the most prestigious garment manufacturers in Canada for many years. More important than her career was her dedication to her family. She had the misfortune of losing her spouse suddenly and unexpectedly at the young age of 42 and found herself facing the challenges of being a single parent, sole provider and guiding light to her three sons who were 13, 15, and 17 at the time of their father’s passing. She dedicated her entire life unselfishly and wholeheartedly to the wellbeing of her children. She insisted on their discipline, their education, and their virtues in order to make a better life for themselves. She succeeded. She was known to be an extremely loving, gentle, humble, noble and caring woman to all that knew her. She had an extreme passion for cooking and taught all those around her who wanted to learn. She loved to read and was culturally gifted.

In the last year of her life, she was surrounded by loving caregivers Liezl, Jenneth, Marie, and Elizabeth who spent many hours listening, learning, and helping her. The family wishes to share their extreme gratitude for the love and care that they have shown to Rosella. Special thanks as well to Rabbi Hoffman and all the wonderful staff at the geriatric and palliative care centers at The Jewish General Hospital in Montreal.

A celebration of life (or visitation) will be held in honour of Rosella on Sunday, May 5th between the hours of 14:00 to 17:00 (2pm-5pm) and 19:00 to 21:00 (7pm-9pm) at Urgel Bourgie complexe funeraire Ville Mont-Royal located at 1255 Beaumont Ave, Mont Royal, Quebec H3P 3J1 followed by a service on Monday, May 6th at 10:00 am at the parish of Our Lady of La Difesa located at 6800 Henri Julien Ave, Montreal, Quebec H2S 2V4.
