Alfred AntoszCaptation des rituels
Alfred (Fred) Antosz was born on August 18, 1921 and was 99 when he passed away on March 18th 2021 in Montreal. His wife Eleanor Nowak Antosz predeceased him by one month. He is survived by his son Al Antosz and many nieces and nephews and their children.
Fred was born and lived for the most part in Montreal. He married Eleanor his true love on November 20, 1943 and they would remain married for 77 years. He was a devoted family man; he was serious but had an easy going personality that made working with him a pleasure. This quality would help him both in his work and social life.
He loved reading his mystery novels and working about the house. He was interested in sports being an avid fan of the old Expos’ baseball team and of course the Montreal Canadiens. His interest in physical activity was lifelong and people would be amazed to find him at 99 years young still peddling on his stationary bike.
Fred was a veteran of the Canadian armed forces during the Second World War and afterwards served as a Montreal police officer for 30 years. He also spent many years actively working with the Polish community and as such was honored for his service by the Canadian Polish Congress and the White Eagle Society. In his later years (always accompanied by his Eleanor) he would ‘call out the numbers’ at Thursday’s afternoon Bingo games at Dom Polski on Frontenac street. He enjoyed this activity almost as much as dancing polkas with his Eleanor.
I would like to thank the CLSC and all those caregivers for all their help in the care of my father. ... Alfred (Al) Antosz.
