Mr Harrison would tell us stories at the school assemblies at Terry Fox elementary and one story in particular resonated with me. It was a simple story about himself when he was young, still living in Jamaica, and he had climbed a tree to acquire a fruit. I could never recall if it was a mango or a coconut or whatever because that part didn't matter. What did matter was that he found himself trying to enjoy the literal fruits of his labours and found it brought him little joy. It was only once he had found a friend and shared it with that friend that what he worked for felt worth it and the fruit tasted so much sweeter. This story planted a seed in my young and impressionable mind that has grown ever since. And each time a friend, family member or even a stranger would thank me for sharing what little I had at any particular moment I would let them know that them sharing what I had with me made ME a happier and more appreciative person. Mr Harrison was a kind and loving man. Through his brief interactions with me he brought about many acts of sharing, love and kindness. If that was what he could do with 1 young mind, the wave of good that must have come about from all the students, teachers, friends and family and other lives that he's touched must have been incredible. His passing should be a reminder that life is fleeting. Life is short. Life is difficult. But sharing those moments and what little we have with others is what makes it that much sweeter.

My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Harrison and family. Mr. Harrison will forever be remembered as a strong positive influence in my life, as he was for a lot of us at Terry Fox. I am truly thankful to have had him as a school principal at such a young and impressible age, and the mass amount of wisdom that he imparted on us, especially me, for the many times I was sent to the office.

Dear Mrs. Harrison and family, On behalf of our nuclear and extended families, including “Cy” (Cyril), Lancelot and family, we wish to express our deepest condolences on the loss of our dear friend (and adopted godfather), Mr. Harrison. We remember him as an outstanding educator, thinker, writer, dancer, fashionista, but most importantly, as an exemplary role model for his community by virtue of his utter devotion to his family - as your husband/life partner and father to your children, Heather, Bill Jr. and son-in-law Owen, doting grandfather to Geneva and Sonnet, his pride and respect for his many siblings and other relatives, and his enviable capacity to inspire all who crossed his path - through humility, an uncanny sense of humour, kindness, unwavering appreciation and joy for life and friendships, and solemn respect for what lies thereafter. Our nuclear family is most grateful for having been blessed with the extraordinary gift of having known his gentle spirit and for the positive role he played in the lives of our children, Anastasia and Nicholas, in addition to countless others. We are sorry for (and also share) your loss. We pray that you and family will be comforted by the army of friends and supporters you cultivated together during his journey on Earth, and by the knowledge that his legacy will endure. Of this we are certain. Indeed, Mr. Harrison’s noble star shall continue to shine brightly through each of you and through all who were lucky enough to be inspired by him. He will forever live in our hearts. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. With our deepest sympathy. Anita, Dexter and family

Our most sincere condolences to you , Mrs. Harrison and to your family. At the time I was the English language minority Commissioner representing Terry Fox, Bill was truly a great friend and ally. Our two daughters, Karen and Katherine, have fond memories of Mr. Harrison's words of wisdom which he oft-time shared with the students. The love for 'his students' and desire to see them accomplish their goals will certainly be remembered. Be at peace knowing he is in a better place without pain or suffering. Our prayers will be with you.

Dear Mrs. Harrison, We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Harrison, and wished to personally express our condolences to you and your family. Not only our father Cyril, and my sister and brother-in-law's family to whom he was very close, but myself, Hermie, Arthur, Rebecca, and Edgar hold nothing but the deepest love and respect for you and your late husband, and can only imagine the sense of loss you all must be feeling at this time. We are all grateful however to have witnessed and benefited from the unwavering love and commitment your husband has shown to his family, his community, and to his friends who are family to him. He will be dearly missed. May the almighty grant you all the necessary strength during this time of grief as you mourn his passing, with the full knowledge that he has left behind a wonderful legacy that is you (his family) to carry on his work; and that you are not alone. With deepest sympathy, Lance

Dear Mrs Harrison, both you and Mr Harrison were cherished role models of my elementary school years at Albert Schweitzer during the same years as William jr was there. Mr Harrison’s kindness and Mrs Harrison’s contagious love for singing while I was in grade five are precious memories. Please accept my sympathies, hugs and gratitude for making this world such a better one for all those you both touched. Inspired by you, I am an now a teacher and hope to make such a difference.

Mr. Harrison and his lovely wife were highlights of my elementary school days. Gentle, kind, intuitive and smart, they were exactly the kind of teachers one remembers that added to the formula for the rest of your life, and made their profession noble. God speed Mr. Harrison. You did great down here!

To the Harrison Family, Deep sadness came over me when I learned of the passing of my friend Bill, so I want to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to his dear wife Edelmera, his son Bill Jr., his daughter Heather, his relatives and friends. Bill was a person I admired from the day I first met him some years ago when I lived in Montreal. What stood out to me about Bill was his humbleness and down to earth demeanor. He also loved to dance. Yes I remember vividly how he danced at the little house party I had after the Christening of my son Warren of whom he and his wife Edelmera are his godparents. Even though we were not seeing each other as often as back in the past years (as I moved to Toronto), his passing is sad for me, but he will always be remembered by me for the gentleman he was. May his Soul Rest in Perfect Peace.
