Dr. Pierre Gravel, chiropractor, peacefully passed away at home on Friday May 11th, 2018 in Montreal. He would have been 91 years old on May 13th. He leaves behind his nieces Micheline Lamarche, Johanne Nuttall, Danielle Larson, Marie Woolridge and Josée Woods, and he will be greatly missed by his many friends, students and patients.
He graduated from the Palmer Chiropractic College in 1951 and was one of the first chiropractors to practice in the province of Quebec and the first to teach French chiropractic classes in Paris. In 2011, he was the only chiropractor with a Ph.C. title in the province of Quebec, which he obtained in 1966 from his postdoctoral studies in chiropractic philosophy.
For 23 years, he was the President of the “Ordre des chiropraticiens du Québec” and the “Conseil national de recherches chiropratiques”. His lifetime professional goal was to make the Ordre des chiropraticiens du Québec known to all.
Furthermore, he developed his own technique named the Gravel technique, which he taught in Europe, as well as in the United States and in Quebec. He was also a well-known and popular speaker heard at many international conferences.
He has practiced his profession with passion for more than 66 years, which he maintained until the very end.
He was passionate for music and was a very distinguished violinist. He has played in many concerts and was also the leader of the Verdun Symphony Orchestra in their first years.
According to his last wishes, we will reunite one last time
on Saturday May 26th, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitations will take place at the Saint-François d’Assise funeral complex
