1936 - 2021
Jose Pacheco passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 21, 1936 in Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Azores. He continued the family tradition of master carpentry throughout his life. He was a lover of music and played the bass drum for the Vila Franca do Campo Filharmonica band. Seeking a better future, he immigrated to Montreal in 1969 with his wife and children.
He was known as a quiet and humble man who taught by example. He had a great sense of humour and unmistakable wit. He leaves in sorrow all those who knew him, on whom he left a lasting impression through his dedication, warmth and humour. A loving and present father, his children and grandchildren were his greatest pride.
In 2013, he suffered a tragic accident that left him disabled, though he remained strong and determined until the very end. He leaves in grieving his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Helena; his children, Aida (Joe), Roger (Mary) and Grace; his grandchildren, Jesse (Gwen), Melanie, Stephanie (Riccardo), Julia and Thomas; and his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Nathan. He had a sister, Zelia, who also passed away this year. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will welcome the condolences of relatives and friends between 5pm and 8pm on July 21 at Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, located at 1255 Beaumont Ave, Mount Royal.
The funeral service will follow at 9 am on July 22 at Santa Cruz Church, located at 60 rue Rachel Ouest, Montreal.
