John Kutyla
Ritual recording

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin, Jan Kutyla on Thursday, April 22 at the age of 90.

He leaves behind his loving wife Stanisława (Stasia) of 58 years. A loving father to his four children and four grandchildren: Ewa (son-in-law Angelo (Thomas & Matthew)), Christopher (Ryan and Kaylee), Ala, and Halina.

Jan was predeceased by his parents Tomasz and Aniela, sisters Agnieszka, Katarzyna (Sr.Rozalia), Stefania and brother Franek.

He leaves behind one surviving sister Janina (Poland) and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Canada, United States and Poland.

He was born in Kutyły, Poland on May 15, 1930. A village that was named after the Kutyły families of which he was a descendant. He arrived in Canada in 1960 to be with his brother Franek. On a trip back to Poland he met his wife-to-be Stasia. A strong bond to love, family, and faith surrounded his life’s philosophy. He was a tailor but also a jack of all trades. He was sharp-witted, an amazing storyteller and loved jokes. He lost his dad in WWII and was left in a field while his village and house were burned to the ground. These difficult life-changing circumstances made him the strong personality he was throughout his life.

A viewing is planned for Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Urgel Bourgie 6700 Rue Beaubien E, Montreal QC H1M 3E3 between 16:00-18:00 pm. The rosary will begin at 16:00 pm. Due to Covid restrictions only 25 people will be allowed inside and thus is reserved for family only.

Burial services will follow immediately after mass. He will be laid to rest at Le Repos Saint-François d'Assise, 6893, rue Sherbrooke Est, Montréal (Québec) H1N 1C7
