Efstathia Tagalakis (née Bouras)
1930 - 2020
It is with deep sorrow to announce that our dear, sweet mother, Efstathia Bouras Tagalakis died peacefully with her loved ones by her side at the Jewish General Hospital on October 13, 2020. Predeceased by her husband, Constantino Tagalakis.
She was a kind and gentle soul who will be remembered for her beautiful and warm smile, her generous heart, putting others needs before hers. Her heart of gold is a testimony to all the people she helped. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, community and the church. She served over 45 years with the Hellenic Community and the Ladies Benevolent Society. Efstathia was born in Tripoli, Greece on January 23, 1930 and immigrated to Canada in 1950. She was our true angel with deeply rooted faith. She lived her life with devotion and hope. Her extraordinary strength, wisdom and spiritual guidance were an inspiration to all. She loved us all with all her being. She will never leave our hearts and thoughts…we love you mommy and yiayia. You will guide us from above as we now need you more than ever.
She leaves to mourn her son, Aristides (Nicky), her grandchildren, Costa and Melissa, her pride and joy, her devoted, loving daughter, Vasiliki Vicki Tagalakis (Jonathan Keeley). As well, she is survived by her siblings, Maria, Alexandra, Sotiri, Nicko, Eleftheria and Athanasia along with their spouses, nieces and nephews in Canada, US and Greece.
We wish to extend our gratitude to her wonderful caregivers who protected and cared for her in a dignified manner in her home over the past five years of her life. Her wish to remain in her home was granted, honored and respected. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit at the Jewish General Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care.
