It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of (Ada) Ruth Prosser (née Stevens) quietly on September 8th, 2020 after a courageous and lengthy journey through Alzheimer’s.
Born August 6th 1931, in Montreal, she was the loving daughter of the late Ada Dunbar and Harvey Nelson Stevens.
She leaves behind her children David, Christopher, Sheryl (Brandi, Brittany), Garth (Karen), Owen, Alexander, Robert (Katya, Alisha, Robbie) and Gael (Cory), and was predeceased by her son Bradley.
Ruth (lovingly known as “Ruthie Two Shoes” to some of her kids), was a gentle and kind soul, who was known for her warm smile, light-hearted nature and quick sense of humor. She had a way of making others feel appreciated and loved and welcomed everyone with open arms. She lived her life without complaints or regrets and always looked for the positive in everything and everyone. She has left an incredible hole in the lives of those that she was close to.
Rest peacefully dear Mom, you will be greatly missed.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Montreal : https://alzheimermontreal.ca/en/make-a-donation/ in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
Messages in memory of Ada Ruth Prosser (nee Stevens)
A farewell letter to my Mom,
My dearest Mom,
When I think of love, in it’s purest form, I hear your sweet voice on the telephone.
The miles between us never mattered at all, through Heaven and earth, we rarely missed a call.
Space or distance never came into play, our hearts’ stayed close, until your parting day.
Sharing and caring our lives’ of ups and downs, laughter or hardship, our love knows no bounds.
The grace, peace and dignity of who you are, will transcend over many lifetime’s, you will never be far.
Mom, when I think of you; You are a gentle spring breeze that soothes my soul.
After a terrible windstorm, or a bad winter’s snow.
You are the warmth of the sun, in the clearest blue sky.
You are that soft, fluffy cloud that catch’s my eye.
You are the music of a song, in your whispering voice, over years of time.
You are the security of unconditional love, which made you joyfully, mine.
Your kindness, your smile, your thoughtful, loving ways.
Your outspokenness and sometimes, stubbornness, in my mind still plays.
You always carried yourself with incredible pride, never judging, always smiling, just riding out life’s ride.
Your dedication and love for your family never once swayed.
You have been an Angel among us, from our very first days.
I am so grateful you blessed me with having you in my world. Now I struggle to write my last letter to you Mom, as I know there will be no return response this time. I want you to be safe and at home with your Angels’ now.
I feel your embrace as you soar up above, and will always remember the comfort and power of your love!!
I simply love you Mom, (inside and out), no matter what; always and forever,
Your daughter, Sher xxxxoooo
