Tasia Bolos (nee Kyres)
1922 - 2020
Tasia Kyres died peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2020. ‘Mama,’ as we all knew her, was truly one of a kind.
Her committment and dedication to family and work, even well into her 90s, was unmatched. She always saw the best in everyone, no matter their transgressions. And God forbid if her daughter Georgia or grandaughter Renia tried to stop her from cooking bacon, or cutting salad in the mornings at Carole’s Restaurant. She would have none of it. ‘Mama’ would leave when she was well and ready to.
But that is what made her so unique : she could drive us all crazy with her stubborness, yet at the same time we could not help but admire her energy and strength. I would always joke with her how she had more strength in her pinky than I had in my entire body. She would tell me to stop talking nonense. But it was true. If only we were all as strong physically, mentally and emotionally.
And who can forget the countless wooden spoon(koutala) beatings?! Looking back, we deserved each and every one of them.
In my heart, I truly believe ‘Mama’ left this world in peace and happiness. She impacted and touched the lives of many. She now gets to be reunited with her loving husband, Konstantinos and son, George. May she never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, ‘Mama,’ Until we meet again.
