1941 - 2019
Marie (Maria) LeBlanc, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2019 at the Jewish General Hospital after a long fearless fight against ovarian cancer.
She was born at home on July 13, 1941 in Minto (Rothwell/Queens county), New Brunswick to Gilbert and Adella (Boucher) LeBlanc. An explorer at heart, she moved away from home after graduating high school at the age of 18, first stop Ontario, then to Fredericton (NB), then to Montreal (QC) where at the age of 23, in the summer of 1964, accompanied by her brother Aurele (Earl), she met her life partner, Armand Tremblay, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Marie loved to love on people. She made clothing from patterns, knitted phentex slippers, crafted jewelry, and made dresses and hats for her dolls. She definitely couldn’t resist dolls in stores. Her hands were rarely still.
Soft-spoken, lighthearted and a hard worker, Marie worked tirelessly and lovingly for her family, and cared for anyone that needed a helping hand. Marie volunteered 2 to 4 days a week at the Lakeshore hospital in Pointe-Claire during her retirement, knitting hundreds of slippers for the patients over the years. It suited her servant heart. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Marie was the beloved mother of her only daughter, Nathalie Tremblay.
She was preceded in death by her brother Aurele LeBlanc. She is survived by her brothers and wives Ronald and Irene LeBlanc, Jerry and Bernice LeBlanc; sisters and husbands Doris and Malcolm Chappel, Corinne and Richard Aucoin; sister Patricia Mclaughlin; sister-in-law, Geraldine Leclerc; her many nephews and nieces and beloved chihuahua companion Leila. All of them she loved and touched deeply.
All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, composed charm, sweet calm demeanour, her contagious smile and undying love and caring for them. “My mom was the strongest, most dedicated woman I’ve ever met. She wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce Mama Bear provider.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made as an expression of sympathy in honour of her 13 month long fight against ovarian cancer to the charity solely dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer https://ovariancanada.org/Get-Involved/Donate.
