Messages in memory of Filippos Mitsopoulos

Mitsopoulos family
February 12, 2019
Filippos came to Canada in the late 1960s, joining a million of his Greek compatriots seeking a better life abroad after the devastation caused by World War II. He is eternally grateful to the family members who preceded him and helped him upon his arrival. Filippos is also thankful to all the friends, neighbors and colleagues that he has met throughout the decades and helped him establish roots in Canada. As a great lesson for all generations old and new, the family invites you to take a moment to watch "The 80 Goes to Sparta", 1969, by Bill Davies (available on the National Film Board of Canada website). The documentary highlights the difficulties encountered by new immigrants. Filippos was deeply involved within the Greek community, ensuring that its churches and schools continue to blossom. For the last few years, he took up a new passion, Byzantine Music and was a member of the chancel at his beloved Saint-Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. May Your Memory Be Eternal (Greek saying)
