I met Stephen 3 yrs ago as he lived in the same building as my son Liam. He was such a gentle soul, very dear to my heart, always there when needed. He loved hard & deeply. How do I know this? I know this because he never stopped loving his ex wife Danielle or his children. He was devastated and broken hearted to find out he had become a grandpa from his brother three days after the birth of little Liam. Stephen, did however act as a surrogate grandpa to my grandaughter who loved and looked forward to his regular visits at our home. God has taken you to a peaceful place where you won,t endure any more pain or heartbreak. You will be forever in our hearts....

You took me as your godchild when mine died when I was only 1 year old! I have great memory of you when I was young and even if we didn't see each other much, every time I saw you, I was always so happy to see you and as usual, you always made me laugh!!! I am very sad of your sudden departure. Rest in peace and play some bowling with my grandma Patricia xxxx

I knew Stephen through CN, and I worked closely with him for several years in the eighties. I liked him; he wasn’t ordinary, and he had a good sense of humour. My condolences to his family.

Very sorry to hear the sad news. My sincere condolences to Stephen’s family. I’ve known Stephen for around 35 years working in CN’s IT and he was always a fun guy to be around. One of the many things that I’ll remember Stephen for was his contagious laugh. Always brought a smile to me when I heard it. His passing was way too soon and he will be missed by many.

Stephen I don't know what to say except that you were not just my brother but my best friend. You were there for me on a daily basis and shared in most everything I did. Watching movies on Saturday night, or fixing my computer all the time, going grocery shopping, helping me make decisions, supporting me on my future plans. My dog Moo (the only dog you ever loved) will miss the walks and sharing peanut butter and crackers with you. You always checked up on me when I wasn't feeling well and came running whenever I needed someone. I'm touching all the gifts you gave me and remembering how generous you were. Not ever once did you ever say no to me. I comforted you when you were sad and you did the same for me. I'm looking for you everywhere and waiting for your phone call. My dearest Stephen I know how much you loved me and you will always be with me. You are now at peace my brother and friend. I love you.

To my brother, teacher and friend, you will be missed tremendously. I will always cherish the times we spent together and the found memories that we've forged. The last few weeks have been special, we've shared hugs and great conversations, you may be gone physically but never from my heart, I will carry you with me always. Love always, Darcy.

My condolences to his family. There are great many memories of Stephen at work and play while at CN. I loved his joie de vivre, his intensity and the larks he pulled with our colleague, Bruce Miller. RIP Stephen, you left us way too soon.

We were very sorry to read that Stephen had passed away at such a young age. He was a colleague and a friend. He was a fun guy to be around. We had such a good time the last time we saw him at the IT golf tournament a few years ago. To his family and friends, please accept our sympathies.

I'll always remember our tour of Old Montreal. What a card! He really made the day memorable. Of course, I didn't quite believe his story about the angle turning on the Notre-Dame Chapel!
