Daniel Gay
After battling a long illness, Daniel Gay passed away peacefully Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was 84 years old. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura. He was a loving father to his daughter Rose-Marie (Stan) and his son Georges (Julie) as well as a proud grandfather to his granddaughter Sofia. He was predeceased by 3 brothers Wilner (Gladys), Roger (Susan) and Antoine (Colette), but survived by his sister Andrée and youngest brother Serge (Louise), several nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Daniel Gay was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He held a law degree (Port-au-Prince), a master's degree in anthropology (Mexico) and a doctorate in sociology (Pittsburgh). He has taught sociology and anthropology in the United States, as well as sociology at Laval University for over 30 years. His work involved undergraduate and graduate teaching, mentoring, research as well as manage the Doctorate Program in Sociology. He was also a published author of several sociological studies and books.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date and held in the Spring in Québec City.
