Lina Solinas Covillo
1915 - 2017
Lina was born in Montreal on December 10, 1915, and departed peacefully in her sleep on November 28th after a brief illness, just 12 days shy of her 102nd birthday.
She went to join her parents Francesco Solinas and Tommasina Farina, and her brothers Raffaele (Ralph) and Arnaldo (Nando) and the « Love of her life » Frank Covillo to whom she was married for 60 years. They were also partners in business, and will be remembered as the gregarious co-owners of Tony’s Restaurant, a neighbourhood fixture for many years.
Lina is survived by her nieces Frances, (Orlando), Joan, (Charles) and Judy (Ken), many grand nieces and nephews, a large extended family and godchildren, as well as many members of the Covillo family.
She will be remembered for her joie de vivre, her love of music, singing and dancing, her fiery character, her wit, and her fierce pride in her Sardinian heritage. She will also be remembered for her generosity, her love of family and friends and her wonderful parties.
The family invites all to gather at Urgel Bourgie, 1255 rue Beaumont, TMR, on Tuesday, December 5 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9 :00 pm and on Wednesday, December 6 from 9:00 to 11:00 am, followed by a prayer ceremony and celebration of her life and a luncheon.
