Jacques Lamoureux

JACQUES LAMOUREUX

1934-2024

At Notre-Dame Hospital

He lived in Montreal

He was the son of the late Paul-Émile Lamoureux and the late Jeanne Daoust.

Mr. Lamoureux is survived by his nieces Line and Marie-Josée, nephews Pierre and Alain and many friends, photographers, creators, film buffs, music lovers and philanthropists.

A great epicurean, he never stopped sharing his passions with the people he came into contact with. Starting out as a film critic, he joined Société de Radio-Canada in 1961, where he remained until his retirement in 1991. There he produced trailers for television and then for radio.

During this time, he travelled the world in search of all the forms that architecture takes, from Ethiopia to China and Peru. His travels have led him to take an interest in photography. As an artist photographer, he has had several solo exhibitions and has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions from Montreal to Buenos Aires and France.

He has created two artists' books: “La Déchirure” and “Dix musées secrets”, both acquired by the Bibliothèque nationale du Québec. He has also published two books of photographs, The Beauty Is the Eye of the Beholder in 2011 and Fragments d'architecture in 2016.

In Jacques' memory, a tribute will be paid to him at the Cinémathèque québécoise on February 1, starting at 2:00 pm. The ceremony will begin with a speech, followed by a 2-hour film screening. Finally, family and friends will be able to meet and mingle over cocktails.
