Jean-Louis Tassé
At Manoir Soleil in Chambly, on December 15, 2024, at the age of 92, passed away Mr. Jean-Louis Tassé, husband of Mrs. Hélène Cuierrier. He now rests with his son Thomas Emmanuel. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Héloïse, Louis-Joseph, Jean-Baptiste, Sophie, Catherine and his grandchildren Marc-André and Marie-Hélène Fernandes, and Victor Emanuel Tassé. He is also survived by his younger sister Danielle Desjardins, nephews and nieces, and many other relatives and friends.
Since 1958, a great citizen of Saint-Bruno de Montarville where he raised his family, he lived caring for his horses and ducks, and admiring Mont Saint-Bruno, of which he was an ardent defender. He left us surrounded by his loved ones, including his wife Hélène, aged 99, whom he loved “forever and always”, as he liked to say.
Jean-Louis Tassé was a great Quebec entrepreneur. He was a pioneer in the Quebec securities industry, founding the brokerage firm Tassé & Associés in 1967. He also owned a school bus company, Autobus Terremont Ltée.
A visionary businessman and committed philanthropist, Jean-Louis Tassé left his mark on the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) through his strong support for student success and entrepreneurship. He created the Fondation Jean-Louis Tassé, which supports academic success at all levels. This foundation has made donations and awarded scholarships to the university foundations of UQAM, UQTR, UQAC, UQAR, UQO and UQAT. It has also contributed to the promotion of French in the business world, generally dominated by the presence of English.
The creation of the Fonds de bourses Hélène et Jean-Louis Tassé supported UQAM students in administration, economics, finance and management, giving them the chance of a promising future.
His commitment is also evident in her support for the ESG UQAM Entrepreneurship Centre, helping to nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs. In recognition of this involvement, the School has awarded him the title of Grand Ambassador of UQAM's École des sciences de la gestion (ESG).
All those who knew him and benefited from his advice and example are deeply grateful. His positive vision and actions leave an important and lasting imprint and legacy for generations to come in the business world and far beyond.
The family will welcome you at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home in Saint-Bruno de Montarville on January 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snacks and appetizers will be served.
A Eucharistic celebration will follow at the Saint-Bruno church immediately afterwards.
We salute you, Dad, and express our admiration, love and gratitude.
