Alberto Arduini
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alberto Arduini, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 80 years old.
Born in Supino, Italy, he came to Montreal as a boy, the youngest of five siblings. He was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School and proceeded to Nicolet Police Academy, becoming a Montreal police officer in 1963. From foot patrol to surveillance, he spent most of his tenure at Station 53 in Tetreaultville, his neighborhood, and ended his 30-year career as a Division Detective in Crime Investigation.
A true man of service, he started volunteering his time upon retirement. Over a decade, he organized annual golf tournaments benefitting the Montreal Ronald McDonald House. He was a devout member of the church and an active member of his Italian cultural association, as a proud Supinese. He spent several years volunteering at the Montreal General Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital and for the last 6 years, the Montreal Heart Institute.
A bon vivant at heart, his curiosity fueled his love for travelling, savoring new cuisines, exploring the forests of Magog and learning a new instrument or language.
He was the north star for his immediate and extended family. A calm force, he will be remembered for his caring and generous spirit, as well as for his mischievous and playful side.
Alberto is survived by his life partner, Maria Gabrielli, and predeceased by his wife, Irene Bernardelli. With a large, blended family, many have gone before him: parents, brothers, in-laws and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
He leaves to mourn his children Claudia, Alberto Jr. (Rosanna), Nadia (Paolo), his grandchildren Vanessa (Robert), Daniel and Ariana, his great grandson Oscar, his siblings Igino (Anna) and Antonietta, as well as his in-laws. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives and lifelong friends across Canada, the US and Italy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation or the Montreal Ronald McDonald House.
