Peters, Robert M.
1927 – 2024

Robert Maurice Peters, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18th, 2024.
Robert (Caro) is now joined with his loving wife of 60 years, Philomena (née Palmieri), who left us in October 2016. He will be sadly missed by his children, Antoni (Marie-Josée Godin, Wendy Mitchell), Natalie (Mark Miller), Christopher (Susan Crawford), Joanna (Max Sansalone), Jennifer (Glen Morris), and his 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of family and friends.
Born in Somerville, MA., to Beatrice Bisson, Robert attended Longy School of Music as well as New England Conservatory of Music to follow his passion for singing and music. He served overseas for the US Army and the USAF in Japan for 3 years. He later met the love of his life, Philomena and moved to Montreal to pursue a musical engagement at Ruby Foos followed by many years actively engaged in the Canadian classical music scene with the MSO Choir and Opera, the CBC, Stratford, the Notre Dame Basilica Chorale as well as Choir Director for years at Our Lady of Fatima church in his senior years. Bob was a Black Belt in Judo associated with Seidokwan and Hakudokan schools. He was a Jack of all Trades, a self taught pianist, he could design and build any furniture needed, he was an amateur photographer, he loved the arts and nature and mostly loved a cup of coffee, good conversation and laughs with family and friends near and far … and crossword puzzles and the funnies page!
Listening to GrandBob sit down at any piano to sing and play the standards of his time will be missed forever, it was the soundtrack for years at 780 Hodge and will be missed by many others as well.
Our deepest appreciation to our friend and caregiver Patricia Henry for her dedication to Dad’s care, and thanks to the medical and caregiving teams at CHSLD Laurendeau.
