Barry Taylor

It is with great sadness that his daughters announce the passing of Barry E. Taylor, on the afternoon of November 1st, 2024, following a devastating stage 4 cancer diagnosis in April of this year. Barry exceeded the doctors’ expectations by several months, thanks to his incredible strength and resolve. He ultimately passed away peacefully, with his daughters and sons-in-law by his side, at the Maison de soins palliatifs Source bleue, in Boucherville, Québec.

Barry was born in New Brunswick, on December 12th, 1942, to Fern (nee Duncan) and Edward Taylor. He was the youngest of a family of 3. Throughout his life, he spoke of his sister Beverley with pride and tenderness and told fond memories of childhood mischief with his big brother Ross, whom he admired greatly.

Barry lived a full and wonderful life, but the thing he valued the most was his family. It all began when he married the love of his life, Carol, on September 28th, 1968. They remained faithfully married for 53 beautiful years until her passing in 2022. He and Carol had two daughters, Tracy, and Kelly. Together they travelled all over the U.S., Europe, and as far as China. His fondest memory was celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary by having dinner at the Louvre in Paris. Barry stood steadfastly by Carol through her decades-long battle against breast cancer and was her sole caregiver until the very end, a feat which he said was the most difficult of his life, but the one that brought him the most pride.

Barry was an avid athlete his entire life, boxing and wrestling in his youth, as well as downhill skiing and golfing up until his illness.

Barry was an expert in his professional domain, his career in printing spanning over 40 years. After many years in sales, he became a successful entrepreneur when he started his own printing consulting company in 1990. While he thrived in business, what was most remarkable to witness were the genuine relationships he formed with clients, partners, and colleagues alike, regardless of their position.

This was a reflection of his caring nature and generous spirit, which he extended to all his family and friends. He had a wonderful knack for surprising friends going through a difficult moment with just what they needed – a cooked roast beef dinner, a thoughtful gift, or an impromptu visit. Anytime he could help anyone, he did.

Barry sometimes had a tough exterior and fighting spirit, but he always had a twinkle in his eye, a joke to tell, a song to sing, and advice to give. He was larger than life, and the void he leaves is immense.

Barry was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Woods. He is survived by his loving daughters Tracy and Kelly, sons-in-law Gustav and Oussama, his adoring grandchildren Corey, Sara, Kenza, and Idris; sister Beverley (Kenneth) and his brother Ross (Pierrette); his nieces and nephews Christopher, Carolyn, Susan, Deborah and Robert and their families; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Maison de soins palliatifs La Source bleue, whom the family would like to thank for their world-class dedication and care.

The family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie / Athos - Cimetière jardin & Complexe funéraire de St-Hubert, 8145 Chemin Chambly, St-Hubert, J3Y 5K2, on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as Friday, November 15, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A service will follow at 1 p.m., followed by a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
