Marie Stabile
(Schinck) Stabile, Marie
1925 -2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Stabile (Schinck), aged 99 years and 5 months, at the Lachine Hospital on September 30.
Born in 1925 in Ville LaSalle, she lived in Lachine. Daughter of the late Luigi Stabile and Rosa Testa, parents who farmed with love, she devoted her life to her family and community.
Marie is survived by her husband, the late Réal Schinck, her son André Schinck and daughter-in-law Claudine Ste-Marie, André's brothers and sister, and Claudine's sisters and brothers. She is also missed by her nephews and nieces, her cousins, and many relatives and friends.
Marie was a devoted and committed woman, known for her tireless volunteer work in Lachine. She was involved with a number of organizations, including Mother of Lachine and a volunteer at the Lachine Hospital, where she brought comfort and entertainment to patients, accompanied them on numerous trips to hospitals in the greater Montreal area, helped with Sunday Masses at the CHSLD Camille Lefebvre in Lachine, fund-raising for the Lachine Hospital Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and many other organizations. She assisted patients by keeping them company at the bedside at the end of their lives. Her generosity and humanity left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who met her.
You could even say she was Lachine's Mother Teresa!
We know that she will be happy to be reunited with those who came before her. Her memories will live on in all of us.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Lachine Hospital for the exceptional care and devotion they showed Marie at the end of her life, to the Lachine CLSC, whose team was at a level rarely seen, to Ms Chantal Bouchard, director and collaborator of Mr Enrico Ciccone, MP for Marquette, for her help and support, and of course to Rayya of the CMRL de Lachine.
If the family has forgotten to mention anyone in all the care Marie received, please consider yourself acknowledged.
She left us discreetly as she loved to do without fanfare, always humble, her mission was to give, give and give without ever thinking of receiving.
She looked after several children who came from all over, without knowing how long they would be with her until the day André came into her life and she welcomed him in an exceptional way with her husband Réal.
Her home was always open to anyone who needed it. Her name reflects the greatness of her soul. Her life was dedicated to giving to others.
André and Claudine invite you to be there to offer you the good luck charm you need or will need throughout your life, because Marie was a good luck charm.
An honorary volunteer until the age of 95, she decided to give up her driving licence, as she often accompanied the sick to medical appointments.
André sincerely requests your presence at one of the days mentioned below and especially on Fridays at the Église des St-Anges in Lachine at 10:00 a.m. because it is very important for Marie to be welcomed as a Saint in the world she prayed to every day.
Condolences will be received at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex (1275 Dollard Ave, Lasalle, QC H8N 2J1) on October 17, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on October 18, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at the Église des Saints-Anges de Lachine (1400 Bd Saint-Joseph, Lachine, QC H8S 2M8) at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Lachine Catholic Cemetery on Provost Street, before 24th Avenue.
Following the interment, you are ALL invited to the Anglers Hall at 3051 boul. St-Joseph, Lachine, across from Lac St-Louis for a well-deserved snack.
