Pierre Racine
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of H. Pierre Racine on January 21, 2024, at the age of 94.
A devoted brother, loving husband, beloved father and loyal friend, he had an endearing personality and an infectious joie de vivre. In addition to a career for the most part spent in the transportation and business development sectors, he made a major contribution to Quebec City's local, regional and international reputation. He was notably president of the Club de Trafic de Québec, president and then director of external relations of the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie du Québec métropolitain, a member of the Canadian Shippers' Council, a member of the organizing committee of the first Alpine Ski World Cups at Mont-Sainte-Anne and a staunch supporter of the World Journalists' Winter Games, the Bois de Coulonges Horse Show and several other events and initiatives. He had a passion for skiing, horseback riding and sailing.
He is predeceased by his parents, Berthe Belley and Roméo Racine, his wife, Marthe Chalifour, three of his sisters, Marthe, Madeleine (Jean Couture) and Françoise (the late André Verge), and his brothers, Gilles (the late Claire Paquet) and Jacques (the late Pauline Rondeau).
He leaves to mourn his children, Louise (Pierre Shoiry), Georges and Sylvie (Gilles Perreault), his grandchildren, Jean-Philippe and Anne-Catherine Shoiry, and Guillaume Racine, his sister Suzanne (the late André Monast), his sister-in-law, Fernande Chalifour (the late Vincent Cloutier), as well as several nephews, nieces and friends.
An intimate service will be held in Quebec City at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Résidence Livélia (until recently Résidence Sélection) on Nuns' Island, the medical staff of the CLSC de Verdun, as well as Denise Decelles, Erjon Pjonazi and Yassin Tbaili for their unfailing devotion and kindness.
