Laure Barbara
"Peacefully fell asleep in the Lord in her ninety-third year, on August 17th, 2023. Predeceased by her brothers Toufik, George, Nicholas and Issa, sisters Hafiza, Zahiya, Yvonne, Sonia and Melanie. Lovingly remembered by her sister Lucie (the late Ramzy Acra), sister-in-law Noha, nieces and nephews Michael (Cynthia), Paul, Ronald (Yolanda), Derek (Suzanne), Joseph, Michel (the late Ann), Zakia, Raymond, Doreen, Christine (Nadim), Wissam, Nicole (Rami), as well as many other cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and many, many friends here, and in Lebanon.
Born in Rashayya-El-Wadi, Lebanon, she immigrated to Canada in 1974, and quickly integrated herself into Canadian life. A woman of strong Orthodox faith, she attached herself to her church and seldomly ever missed a Sunday. Being celibate, she greatly loved her extended Canadian family, and loved nothing more than to have family gathered around the dinner table, breaking bread together. In her later years, her love for the middle-eastern community of Montreal also allowed her to contribute back, volunteering her time as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cedars Home for the Elderly, where she had many friends.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the wonderful staff of Unit 3 at the Auclair C.H.S.L.D. for their dedicated and devoted care. The family will receive condolences at Urgel Bourgie, 1255 Beaumont, TMR, on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 80 de Castelnau East, Montreal.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church."
