Yves Labrèche passed away in Winnipeg on January 14, 2023. Born in Montreal in 1952, he was the son of the late Rita Lussier Labrèche and René Labrèche.

Trained as an anthropologist, Yves was coordinator of a research chair and associate professor at the Université de Saint-Boniface. He is the author of numerous publications and research papers. He was involved in many organizations in Manitoba.

He is survived by his sisters, Jocelyne and Suzanne (Jean-Pierre), his brother Guy, his nephews and nieces Sophie (Michel), Simon (Anne-Marie), Renaud (Kathleen) and Xavier (Jacky), his grand-nephews and grand-nieces, his cousin and friend Diane Labrèche, his other cousins, his friend Nathalie Piquemal, his friend Martine Paquet and his friend Ala' Karajeh, as well as many other friends and colleagues.

A tribute will be paid on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home, 3955 Côte de Liesse Road, Saint-Laurent. The funeral home will be open from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by the reception room from 6 to 8 p.m.

Yves will be buried in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery at a later date.
