Riad Kamel
Riad Rizgalla Kamel was born in Egypt on September 16, 1930, and passed away on July 1, 2023.
He was a loving husband to Ferial Melek Kamel for 60 years and father to Dr. Charles Kamel married to Shierly Armanious (daughter of Dr. Shadia Armanious) with children Jonathan and Rachel. He was also the father of Christina who passed away and left behind Peter and Dr. Monica Meikheil.
Uncle to Dr. Adel Rizkalla and sister Hoda, of deceased brother Youseffe. Brother to deceased sister Wedad whose children are Magdy, Suzy, Innes Rizkalla. Uncle to Dr. Fayez and Dr. Mogeeb Guirgus of deceased sister Ida. Cousin to Nabil and Dr. Amanie Abdelmessih. Cousin of Dr. Sameh Menassa and sisters Nowal and Mimi. Cousin of Ibrahim, Besma, Mona and Maha Albert.
Brother-in-law of Farouk and Victor Melek, Fawzia Melek in Egypt, Fayza Melek (wife of Dr. Magdi Shoucri).
Riad, a textile engineer (Leeds University) and inventor, enjoyed rowing, travelling, sailing, and a daily walk even when it was minus 30 well into his 80s.
The wake/visitation will be 7–9 pm on July 5, 2023, at Urgel Bourgie/Athos, 6700 Rue Beaubien E, Montréal, QC H1M 3E3. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6th, at St Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church, 7395 Rue Garnier, Montréal, QC H2E 2A1.
