Maria Schied
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Machmer (nee Schied) on June 24, 2023 in Laval, Quebec at age 96.
Beloved wife of the late Friedrich Machmer and loving mother to daughters Irmgard Pirsch (John) and Marlene Machmer (Hugh). Proud grandmother to five grandchildren (Johnny Pirsch, Sonia Pirsch (Joe), Alexander Pirsch (Julie), Dustin Steeger, and the late Travis Steeger), and survived by nine great-grandchildren (Serena, Ricky, Leanne, Lucy, Tyler, William, Alexanne, Milena, Edouard), other relatives and friends in Canada, and her brother and sister-in-law and cousin in Europe. She was predeceased by her parents Maria and Friedrich and her brothers Friedrich and Phillip.
Maria was a very thoughtful, caring, and much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who remained very devoted to her entire extended family throughout her life. She will be fondly remembered and missed by many.
The family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie funeral home at 3955 De La Chemin Cote-De-Liesse, Saint-Laurent H4N 2N6, on Friday, June 30 between 1-2 pm, followed by a service, burial, and reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Doctors Without Borders (or a charity of your choice).
