It is with great regret that we inform you of the death of Mr. Louis Léon Roquet on February 24.

Throughout his career, Mr. Roquet held various positions within the Quebec senior public service. He was the first CEO. of Investissement Québec, which he helped found, and Chairman of its Board of Directors (1998-2002), CEO. of the Société des alcools du Québec (2002-2004), General Manager of the City of Montreal (1994-1995, 2010-2011) as well as President of the Desjardins investment division, Desjardins Capital d'investissement et capital de risque (2004-2009).

He was Chairman of the board of directors of the Société de développement Angus (SDA) from its founding in 1995 until last fall. He was therefore a very important actor and witness to this exemplary success.

In 2018, Mr. Roquet was appointed Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of the University of Montreal, a position he held until 2021.

Recognized for his great managerial talent but above all very generous with his time and knowledge, he was able to share it with many non-profit organizations that he helped and supported for several years.

He is survived by his loving wife Anna, his children Natalie, Béatrice and François, his granddaughters Véronique, Sophie, Delphine and Olivia, his sister Lise and many relatives and friends.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, March 3 at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex located at 1255 Beaumont Avenue, Town of Mount-Royal, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at St-Viateur Catholic Church located at 1175 Laurier Street West, Outremont.
