Suheil Saad
Suheil passed away peacefully on Tuesday 8th November 2022, in Montreal Canada at the of age 89. Suheil managed his illness with strength and grace. Suheil cherished spending time with his loved ones as much as possible. On his final day, he prayed the rosary surrounded by his wife (of 62 years) Denise and his children who he adored more than anything else in the world.
Suheil was born in 1933 in Jerusalem to Anton Saad and Rose Atallah. He grew up in Jerusalem with his family, he was the second of five siblings, Suheil grew up in a Catholic family in Jerusalem post British Mandate where he completed his secondary schooling, at the Al Ahliya College in Ramallah, then (In 1954) he completed his higher studies in Laboratory Technology (Biochemistry) at the Government Laboratories in Jerusalem.
In his teens he was part of the boys' scouts, played tennis and table tennis at the YMCA.
Suheil started his professional career as a lab technician and in 1962 travelled with the World Health Organization to Africa (Nigeria), and Central America (Jamaica and Mexico) with a mission for the eradication of malaria and other epidemics. Suheil then moved to Kuwait where he lived for over 20 years working at the Ahmadi Hospital.
Suheil and Denise got married in 1961 in Jerusalem. Within a couple of years, they started a family, with their first born Suha and Hania followed two years. Suheil and Denise found themselves moving to Jordan and then Kuwait; due to conflicts in the region. Suheil started a job at Ahmadi Hospital with the Kuwait Oil Company. While in Ahmadi, Suheil and Denise had two more children, Eddy and Ramez. In the late 80’s, Suheil and Denise settled in Montreal, Canada with their 2 sons.
Suheil and Denise travelled extensively around the world. Suheil always saw the cup half-full. Being a kind, caring, loving, patient, wise, and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Suheil and he certainly fulfilled.
Suheil is survived by his wife Denise George Qamar, Suha and her husband Dr. Zuhair Zarifa, Hania and her husband Anton Stephan, Eddy and his wife Nisreen Khoury and Ramez; Suheil has 11 grandchildren (Paul, Natalie, Luke, Leen, Michael, Carol, Sebastian, Christian, Leonardo, Laila and Solana); and 4 great-grandchildren (Juliet, Leo, Joshua and Zoe). Suheil was preceded in death by his brothers Salim, Samir and his sister Ophelia, survived by their youngest sister Samira.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday November 17th, 2022,
as of 1 :00 PM, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church,
7900 Av Naples, Brossard, Qc J4Y 1Z9.
Funeral Mass to follow at 2:00 pm.
Burial to follow at Jardin Urgel Bourgie (8145 chemin de Chambly, St-Hubert).
