Jean-Claude Garneau

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean-Claude Garneau on October 2, 2022, his 93rd birthday, after a long illness.

He was pre-deceased by his son Francois (1984),his brother Gilles and sisters Suzanne, Mariette, Ghislaine . He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Lise Vanier, his daughter Josée (Gordon Halliday), his grandchildren Catherine (Gerald Pierson) and Philippe (Claire Boone), his great grandson William Pierson, brothers-in-law, Gilles (Lorraine Allatt), Fernand and Jacques Vanier, Jacques Labelle and many nieces and nephews.

Jean-Claude was a proud alumnus of the McGill civil engineering class of 1953 and throughout his career he remained an active member of his alumni association.

He had a long and successful career as President of Janin Construction, working on many large national and international projects such as the Daniel-Johnson Dam and Manic-5 Generating Station, the James Bay hydroelectric projects, the Pont Pierre-Laporte, the hydroelectric station in Sri-Lanka and the Mexico City subway system.

After retiring from Janin he founded Excotech, which provided specialty engineering consulting services for over 20 years.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the 4th floor team at CHSLD Laurendeau for their kind, compassionate care.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, 1255 Beaumont, Ville Mont Royal, Quebec from 1-3pm followed by a commemorative service.
