Randa Awad
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister, Randa Fuad Awad. Randa left us on May 04, 2022, in Montreal. Randa will live forever in our hearts.
She will be dearly missed and remembered by her sister Rose (Stefan Toma), her sister Rima, her brother Najib (Elda Khanamirian), her nieces and nephews Rami, Amalia, Fuad, and Marya, her aunts Lamia, Sumaya and Lily and many cousins from the Awad, Yassir, Akkawi (Turk), Ghazawi & Abdallah families.
Randa inherited amazing traits from her mom & dad; she was loving, kind, and generous. Randa was a truly remarkable person, and we will all sorely miss her.
We will always be thankful Randa featured so prominently, daily in so many of our lives - from a young age she was the sister we could rely on to make family gatherings extra special, and in turn, a bigger than life aunt to her nieces and nephews, always there to support and guide them, instilling a sense of how exciting life could be, and that even adults and adulthood could be fun. How right she was! You always wanted to be around Randa, because you knew something exciting and funny would happen, and something very tasty was inevitably on offer.
Her 'Joie de Vivre’ was infectious, her curiosity contagious, and her perseverance against all odds admirable, but it was her warmth, kindness, and generosity that made her such a true and loyal person. Randa took what life dealt her, turned it around, and never complained - she always felt lucky and was always positive, guided, and strengthened by her unwavering faith in facing adversity. She hated goodbyes, and we know she would have found it very fitting that in her last weeks amongst us, she was once again able to surround herself with so many friends and family, with a favorite glass of pink bubbly in her hand and a smile on her face, the consummate hostess, having prepared the most delicious and elaborate meals she could share with those she loved.
Randa was also a very dedicated and hardworking professional, assisting the office of the Provost at McGill in facilitating and relocating professors from across the globe. Her extraordinary personal and organizational skills were appreciated by colleagues and those entrusted to her care. She fully embraced her career, her new home, and her adopted country, grateful for the opportunity Canada had given her.
We already very much miss Randa. She left us way too early and our home will not be the same without her, but like many, we are ever so fortunate and grateful to have had her in our lives.
