Leokadia Sulikowski
It is with heavy heart and enormous sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of my courageous mother Lucy, who quietly slipped away at Lakeshore General Hospital, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, at the age of 87.
She was beloved wife of fifty seven years to my father the late Mieczyslaw (Mike) (2010), devoted mother to my brother Tadeusz (Ted) (2012) and myself Irena Konstancja Witecki (Brampton, ON), cherished to her son-in-law, the late Andrzej Achilles Witecki (2018).
Lucy was born in Wyrka pow, Kostopol, Poland to Aleksander Sulikovski (1977) and Franciszka Sulikowski (née Bitner) (1996) after World War II. At the age of sixteen, she immigrated to Canada and would bring her parents and siblings to Canada with the help of her late brother-in-law Roman Balcerczyk.
She was a hardworking, caring and generous homemaker who loved to cook, bake, entertain and garden. She welcomed family and friends to drop by anytime. She adored and loved her godchildren : Teresa Slojewski (Toronto, ON) and the late Krystyna Rej (Wroclaw, Poland). She loved to take care of children and pets. Everyone was important and loved.
She will be greatly missed by her sisters : Stephanie Balcerczyk (Barrie, ON), Kazmiera Rej (Wroclaw, Poland), Irene Laporte (Repentigny, QC), Teresa Heitbohmer (Ron) (Lions Head, ON) and sisters in-law Mira Sulikowski (Lancaster, ON) and Josefa (Josephine) Slojewski (Toronto, ON) ; Her mother-in-law Konstancj Lukasiewicz (née Kuziomko) (1952) ; her father-in-law Josef Lukasiewicz (1973); Her brother Anthony Sulikowski (2006) her sister-in-law Janina (Janka) Hudziak (2019) ; Her Brothers-in-law Stefan Slojewski (1978), George Laporte (1996), Kazimierz Hudziak (2013), Roman Balcerczyk (Toronto, ON) and Wlader Rej (Wroclaw, Poland).
I would like to thank everyone who were in close contact and generous with their time to help her make life easier, especially Richard J Sztuder, Sabina Gabriel, Mary Gruchot, the CLSC West Island staff, le Selection West Island, doctors and nurses.
Lucy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her immediate and extended families, friends, and neighbours in Canada, United States and Europe.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the heart and stroke foundation, the Canadian diabetes society or any charity of your own choice, would be kindly appreciated.
With great love and affection, I will miss saying to you every day for one more time, I love you Mom very, very much.
Due to government regulations regarding the pandemic, only 25 people can attend.
The service will be held at Urgel Bourgie/Athos funeral home, 3955 chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse in Montreal.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday April 28, 2021 from 10 am to 12.
