Paul R. Coffin

On Friday March 19th, Paul died peacefully in his sleep, close to his loved ones; his beloved wife José Daignault and children, Paul J., Dominique-Ann & Benoit Hamel, Charles & Danielle Laplante, Monique Daignault & Benoit Miron, Stéphanie Daignault & Pierre Larochelle and Patrick Daignault & Annick Lauzon. Left to mourn are his dear brother and sister-in-law, Tris & Micheline Coffin, and goddaughter Julie. He will be missed by his 12 cherished grandchildren who will remember him fondly; Margaux, Vincent, Charles-André, Lyse-Ann, Gabrielle, Olivier, Nicolas, Charles, Louis, Michel, Sienna and Mia. He will also be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Pierre & Marie Cloutier, Paul Cloutier & Ginette Desjardins, Louis & Dahris Dufour, and Léo Dandurand. Paul was predeceased by his first wife Lyse.

Paul was a kind and generous friend to many, a true gentleman. Many of his TMR childhood friends have remained close, not to mention the numerous others who became true companions over the years.

Friends will cherish memories of sharing a glass or two with Paul at many of Montreal’s iconic restaurants. This tradition lived-on until recently as LCC Wines & Spirits’ proudest ambassador since 1985.

Throughout his life, Paul was an important participant in the golfing and skiing communities. From the tees of Rosemère and Laval-sur-le-Lac, to the slopes of Avila, Mont-Tremblant and Saint-Sauveur, this was an important part of his life where many family memories were created and friendships were forged. In recent years, nothing could keep him away from the Sunday Classic races at Sommet Gabriel.

He will be fondly remembered for his lifelong commitment to fundraising and charitable organizations, notably as a long-time member and leader with the Optimist Club of Ste-Thérèse.

The family wishes to thank the caring professionals of the Intensive Care Unit at the St-Jérôme Hospital, namely Dr Véronique Busque and her wonderful teammates, Marie-Andrée, Stéphane and Vanessa.

A private funeral service will be held for immediate family only. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, when circumstances permit.

Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Fondation Optimiste Sainte-Thérèse in memory of Paul, one of its founding members.
