Millicent Jackson

Millicent Monica Jackson Dillon, age 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on January 24, 2021, following a short illness, at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal.

Born and raised in St. Mary, Jamaica, she migrated to Canada in 1962, where she worked as a caregiver privately and in many Montreal hospitals before retiring. Lovingly known as “Aunty” to her nieces and nephews in Jamaica, this was a name, even her children would later call her, (which was confusing for many outside the family). She was the loving, but firm matriarch of her large family which consisted of her children, grand-children and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in laws. When she said, “One, two” in a certain tone of voice, we all listened and shaped up.

She especially loved her role as Grandma and Grandma Milly. Her home has always been open to numerous neighborhood kids, international students, and friends. An intensely private person, when she accepted you into her inner circle, you were family. Above all else, she loved her family and instilled in them her strong values that have served them well in the past and will continue to guide them in the future.

Millicent Jackson Dillon is survived by her children: Joan, Fay, Hyacinth, Claudia, Everton, Patricia and Peter; her sons-in-law Cedric Gordon and Wayne Moore; her ten grandchildren and her ten great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws in Canada, France, Jamaica, the UK and the US also mourn her passing. She is pre-deceased by her son-in-law Stephen O’Neill. She will be dearly missed and will forever be in our hearts.

Private funeral services will take place at Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home & Chapel, February 12, 2021 @1p.m. for visitation and 2 p.m. for service.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Royal Victoria Hospital 9 floor north.
