Magda Haggar (née Nahas)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Magda Nahas (Haggar) on June 7th, 2020. She was born in Cairo, Egypt on March 25th, 1941 to her late parents Nada and Nadim Nahas. Beloved wife of Jean and much-loved mother of Christian (Hanadi Tayan), Carine (Mark McAuley), and Charles (Catherine Condoroussis). She is also survived by two siblings, Samir and Raouf and has gone to join her other two siblings, Mona and Wafik, who passed before her and are awaiting her with open arms. She was a cherished grandmother to Jonathan, Veronica, Liam, Oliver, Simon and Isabelle.

Magda passed peacefully from complications of advanced melanoma at the Oncology ward at the Royal Victoria Hospital. She was a loving mother, wife and friend, no matter how tough things got in life, she always had a lot of love to give. We will miss her deeply; she has left a hole in our lives that will never be filled. May she rest in peace.

“Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”

Due to current circumstances, there will be a private ceremony on June 15th, 2020 at the Urgel Bourgie funeral home on chemin Côte-de-Liesse in St. Laurent.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to the Cedars Cancer center at the MUHC (https://www.cedars.ca/en/how-to-help/donations). We would like to thank the many nurses, orderlies and doctors who took care of her during her extended hospital stay at the MUHC both on the Internal Medicine wards and in Oncology during this very difficult time made worse by COVID-19. A special thank you to Dr. Ramy Saleh who was there at the end and went above and beyond. Thank you to all of you for your dedication and care.
