Ivan Milan Trebichavsky
It is with deep sadness that we announce Ivan Trebichavsky’s sudden passing in a long-term care facility in Montreal on April 12, 2020 at the age of 72. He was unfortunately a casualty of COVID-19. Son of the late Ivan and Elena (Kovalik) Trebichavsky, he leaves behind his wife Michèle, his children Philippe and Josée, his sister Nadia and his brother-in-law Bernard.
Ivan was born in Prague, Czech Republic, and he immigrated to Canada at an early age with his family.
As an ambitious and skilled businessman, Ivan's passion for cars led him to embark on an illustrious career in the automobile industry that spanned over 40 years. During this time, he held various managerial positions at Chrysler, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mazda and BMW, which culminated in his becoming the President of Ile Perrot Toyota from 1995 until the beginning of a long illness in 2014. Although originally a small dealership, under Ivan’s steadfast leadership Ile Perrot Toyota became one of the top performers in its category. Ivan then oversaw its expansion and move to a new location and its transformation into the impressive dealership that it is today. Ivan’s sales achievements were recognized by Toyota Canada, which honoured him with several prestigious awards. He was appreciated and respected by his colleagues, employees and customers alike for his friendliness and his dedication to his work.
Ivan can only be described as being larger than life. His great sociability, irresistible charm and infectious laughter endeared him to his numerous friends, countless acquaintances and to anyone he met. He was always on the go, whether it was aiming for a strike while competing in his bowling league, winning numerous squash and racquetball trophies, zipping down challenging ski hills, indulging in his passion for driving while going on road trip adventures, singing along to his favorite oldies, or attending social events with his friends and spending time with his family.
Ivan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family in Montreal and his relatives in Slovakia, as well as his friends and colleagues.
Due to the current circumstances related to the coronavirus, there are no funeral services planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online to the McGill University Health Center Foundation at www.muhc.ca or by calling 514-843-1543.
