Alfiero Di Battista

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the beloved patriarch of our family.

Alfiero Di Battista was a loving husband, caring father and adored grandfather. He was also a brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Alfiero passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the age of 91 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Bambina Di Battista (Olivieri); their children, Italo (Shifra), Sandro (Nina), Candida (Mike); and six beautiful grandchildren, Natassja, Julian, Arianna, Maxim, Aidan and Giordano.

Also left to mourn are his sisters, Maria Marrone (Di Battista) and Pressina Milani (Di Battista) of Italy, his brother Raimondo Di Battista of Australia, as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

Alfiero was born in Castelvecchio Calvisio, Italy in1928. After serving with the army for several years, he immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s.

He was admired for his strength, values and leadership in all aspects of his life. Throughout the years, he remained a proud and highly regarded member of both the Alpini Association, Gruppo Laval and the Federazione Delle Associazioni Regionali D'Abruzzo Del Quebec.

From the time of his arrival in Canada, Alfiero worked tirelessly to provide a good life and home for the family he loved dearly. He was passionate about opera, loved to play cards, and looked forward to tending his extraordinary garden year after year.

He will be missed dearly and remembered always.
