Augousta Sclavounos Gavrielatos

Augousta Sclavounos Gavrielatos passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 25th at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Augousta was born on July 17, 1934 on the beautiful island of Kefalonia, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1954. She married her beloved husband, Niko Gavrielatos in 1957 and subsequently raised two loving children and four wonderful grandchildren. She leaves behind her husband Niko Gavrielatos, daughter Angie (Dimitri), son Platon as well as her grandchildren; Christina (David), Nicholas, George and Vincent.

Augousta was the pillar of her family and was often described as a woman full of love and kindness. An inspiration to all who knew her, she will forever be remembered for her resilience, selflessness and most of all her joie de vivre. Augousta was a precious jewel that will forever be treasured in our hearts.

Augousta’s family will receive condolences at Urgel Bourgie, located at 1255 Beaumont Avenue on Wednesday, August 29th from 4:00PM to 9:00PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30th at 11:00AM at Saint Michael’s Greek Orthodox Church, 11 801 Elie-Blanchard, Montreal ,Qc. H4J 1R7.

Augousta’s family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Palliative Care unit, who looked after Augousta so compassionately. Most notably, Lambrini Georgoulopoulou, Augousta’s wonderful caregiver, who provided her with the gift of hope until her last days.
