Cameron Evelyn
Cameron Llewellyn Evelyn, age 78, passed away peacefully July 25, 2018. He was born on September 19, 1939 in Hart’s Gap, Barbados to Lionel and Daphne Newton. He was married to Grace Maynard who preceded him in death in 2015.
A proud graduate of Combermere School, he came to Montreal in 1969 to further his education in accounting and earned his CA and BComm from McGill University. He joined a small firm where he worked for over 30 years. A loving husband and dedicated father to two boys he also taught Sunday School, and was a fine athlete in his youth. Better known then as “Cammie Newton,” he was active in cricket, field hockey, football and basketball. He will be dearly missed by his sons Cameron Jr and Carey, granddaughter Marilyn, his sister Barbara, brother Tyrone, the Gittens family and the many other souls who were touched by his life.
