Robert Stock

Robert Philip Stock passed away suddenly on March 7, 2018 at St. Mary’s hospital in Montreal. He was soon to celebrate his 87th birthday.

He leaves behind his wife Françoise Bouvier, his daughters Brigitte (Ramez Rabbat), Ingrid (Charles Barrière), Oona (Érik Grandjean), his beloved grandchildren Indiana, Charlotte, Liam, Louis, William et Maximilien; his sister Rita Stock, his cousins, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends in Canada and France.

Youngest of seven children, Robert was born in Magog, Québec, son of the late Marie-Rose Laroche and George Walter Stock, the later of solid Irish ancestry. He met Françoise while he was posted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Paris. They married in Montmartre on April 21st, 1955. He graduated with a degree in international relations and corporate leadership from Chicago’s Lasalle University. Robert joined Minneapolis-based Wilson Learning Corporation as Director of International Development. Always the entrepreneur, he opened his own consultancy in London and managed it until his retirement.

Ever a student of history, Robert was an ardent defender of the French language and was committed to Québec"s place on the international stage. His special brand of humor was as effective in French as it was in English.

A celebration mass will take place at 11am Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at l’Église Notre Dame de Grâce, 5333 avenue Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Montréal.

Burial will be at St. Patrick"s Cemetery, 932-1022 rue des Pins, Magog, on May 25th, 2018.
