Peacefully, on February 4, 2017, Julie Balena (née Charlebois) passed away at the Centre Champlain, back at home in the Crawford Park district of Verdun. Her family had lived and grown in their LaSalle Blvd home from the 1940’s through 2000.

Julie was a kind, energetic, fierce, courageous and loyal wife, sister and friend. She cared deeply for those around her, especially her children. She was a loving mother to Carol (Brad), Joanne, Richard and Stephen (Julie) and proud grandmother to Keith, Sarah, Stacy, Megan, Margaret and Rachel as well as great-grandmother to precious Ethan.

Her heart broke when Sam, her husband of 57 years, passed away in 2009. She had cared for him with all her soul and strength. Sadly, her health began to deteriorate shortly after he passed away. She is at peace now, reunited with her Sam.
