Raymond Roy

Joseph, Albert, Raymond (Ray) Roy age 78, passed away at Charles Lemoyne Hospital, Greenfield Park, Quebec, surrounded by members of his family on Saturday, June 11, 2016. He was born on February 28, 1938 in Berthier, Quebec to Leo and Florence (Blouin) Roy. Ray enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1955 where he served as a radar technician on numerous ships including the HMCS Bonaventure and HMCS Ottawa until 1974, upon retiring from the navy; Ray joined Measurex Corporation, an upstart computer control system developer for the paper-making industry which was later purchased by Honeywell where he worked for more than 25 years as their Chief instructor for Canada. Upon retirement, Ray devoted his time to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147 where he served in many positions including President. He married Joan Eleanor Wyatt on December, 30, 1974, together they raised five children.

He is survived by his sons Paul and Eric, daughters Lise and Lynn, and five grandchildren, Johnny, Amanda, Michael, Kyle, and Courtney. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents Leo and Florence, brother Gustav, sister Lise and son Danny.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Ray touched are invited to the Jardin Urgel Bourgie/Athos 8145, Chemin de Chambly, Saint-Hubert, Quebec J3Y 5K2 from 7-9 pm, June 17. 2016. Funeral services will take place at 11 am, June 18, 2016, at the same address with a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147, 1622 Roberval, St-Bruno, Quebec at 12 noon, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
