Normand Lefebvre

Normand Lefebvre passed away in Montreal on January 7, 2016 at the age of 83. He leaves behind Suzanne Des Chatelets, his beloved wife of 61 years. He was predeceased by his son Sylvain.

A businessman, he owned and operated JP Corbeil Ltd., a shoe and skate manufacturer, from 1971 to 1984. The company was in particular known for its production of Orbit hockey skates.

He was actively involved in the Shoe Manufacturers’ Association of Canada from 1971 to 1973. His primary contribution to the industry was the creation of the distinctive maple leaf “Made in Canada” logo and the implementation of its placement on each pair of shoes made in Canada.

He then worked as a stockbroker at National Bank Financial (previously Lévesque, Beaubien, Geoffrion) during the last 22 years of his career, retiring in 2007.

He was a past president of Club Laval-sur-le-Lac golf club and an honorary member of Club St-Denis. Bridge and golf were his great passions in life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter France (Robert Girardin) of Chicago, and his two grandchildren, Carl-Eric Girardin of Chicago and Andrea Girardin (Dr. Tyler Sheasby) of Vancouver. In addition, he is survived by his sister Louise Bleau (Guy, deceased), his sisters-in-law Lise D. Lefebvre (Claude, deceased) and Camille Des Chatelets as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends who were very dear to him.

Normand’s family wishes to thank Mrs. Andrée Gauvin for her support and advice as well as Diane Gauvin, Diane Laperrière and Lilian Démé for their invaluable assistance.

Normand’s family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex located at
1255 Beaumont, T.M.R. on Saturday, January 16th from 2 P.M-6 P.M. and on Sunday, January 17th starting at 11 A.M., followed by a celebration of life at 1 P.M. at the funeral complex.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Home-Care Society of Greater Montreal or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
