Florence Aziz (née Cury)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Florence Aziz (nee Cury) at age 83 on Wednesday, March 5th 2014 at home surrounded with so much love from her entire family. Caring and loving wife to Albert Aziz for over 62 years, devoted mother to Ricky Aziz (Firouzeh Kashani), Mark Aziz, Karen Aziz (David Johnson) and Kathy Aziz (Jim McLeod), adoring Grandma to Tiffany, Amanda, Michael, Johnathan, Jessica, Alexander, Erik and Madison. Florence takes comfort in joining her parents, Lily Deeb and John Cury. Florence leaves behind many cherished relatives and close friends who demonstrated their unwavering support during her courageous battle with cancer.
Florence ensured that her family remained close as she truly appreciated what it meant to be surrounded by people. Developing close relationships is what she valued most and lived for. It was important to her to always include relatives and close friends at family gatherings and holidays. She enjoyed hosting family events for every occasion, always done to perfection! She was the glue to many.
Florence’s strong values were witnessed by the time she spent helping others while never seeking accolades. She was one of the originators of the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church choir, active member of the L.S.C. Ladies Aid Society and supportive to many relatives and friends. Florence is remembered to have an abundance of energy and an outpouring of love for everyone she met.
She enjoyed golf with friends from Chantecler, Val Morin and Royal Montreal, playing cards with both the girls and couple friends, sneaking away to the casino with... (you know who you are), and of course, her time spent on the Galt in Fort Lauderdale.
Special thanks to the many doctors, nurses and care-givers, who took such great care of her and were so responsive to her needs. You were all a great comfort to Florence and her entire family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory can be made to causes close to her heart: The L.S.C. Ladies Aid Society 1400 Sauve West, suite 1406, Montreal, H4N 1C5, and St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 80 Rue de Castelnau Est, Montréal, QC H2R 1P3.
