John Thomas Dawson
Jack Dawson peacefully entered the presence of the Lord he loved on December 23rd, leaving behind his precious wife of 28 years Maureen Cheeseman, having been predeceased by his beloved Kathleen Durnan of 39 years. He will be greatly missed by
his devoted children David and Pat Dawson, Debbie and Heinz Archipow, Ruth and David Sloan, Maureen and Paul Sloan, Nancy Parnell, Keith Parnell and 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren - all looking forward to reunion in the Resurrection. Born in
Scotland, raised in Montreal's East End, Jack was an RCAF Lancaster bomber pilot, returning to work for more than 40 years as a printer with the Montreal Star then the Gazette. Early in life, he became a follower of Jesus and this provided focus to his areas
of service, which included Youth For Christ, Welcome Hall Mission, Publications Chre´tiennes and many more ministries. He was deeply committed to the Christian community at Rosemount Bible Church where he served as a pastor, Bible teacher and mentor. He was much loved. He cherished summers at his Lake Harrington cottage, gardening, building, golfing and going out to "catch the big one" with family. He loved visiting Maureen's family in London and in Kentucky. Wintering in Boca Raton, he enjoyed many close friendships at the Chapel there. The last five years he lived through progressive disabilities in the VIGI Mont Royal CHSLD.
There he touched the lives of many staff through his graciousness, gratefulness and pastoral heart. The family is most appreciative of the care of Dr. Ken Flegel (Royal Victoria Hospital) over many years and for the attentive staff on 1 East of the VIGI. Jack's passions were serving others through both Rosemount Bible Church and Welcome Hall Mission.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to either of these.
Private family interment will occur at a later date.
"For to me to live is Christ, to die is gain." Philippians 1:21
