Peter.James Conway
The Conway family is sad to announce the death of Peter James Conway, father of David, Peter (Linda McFetridge), Linda, Richard (Shelley Hall) grandfather of Kerrie, Justin, David, Andrea, Gregory, Langdon, Vanessa, Marlie, and Eva, great-grandfather of Michael, Dylon, Savannah, Donovan, David William, and Madeline, and friend to many.
Born in Montreal on January 7, 1931, Peter later moved to Toronto with his mother, Jessie Mervin, and brothers John (Jack) and William (Bill).
Peter returned to Montreal in his twenties where he met and married his lovely wife, Claire Helene Fortier.
Armed with an Associate in Science Degree, Peter rose to become President of Operations for the Dominion Lime Company. This position took him and his family throughout Canada, the United States, and Chile.
Peter retired to St. Mathieu, Quebec in 1975, where he became a respected full time breeder of pure bred sheep. He held the honorable position of President of the Canadian Sheep Breeders Association for several years and was awarded a life time Honorary Membership in recognition of his valuable service and outstanding contribution to agriculture and the Canadian sheep industry.
Peter could be seen regularly jogging at the downtown branch of the YMCA where he also became a life time Honorary Member.
Peter was also an Honorary Governor of the Montreal General Hospital.
Peter will be remembered most for his sharp wit and direct approach.
