Simone David

Simone David Raymond died peacefully in Montreal at age 100. Daughter of the late honourable Athanase David and of the late Antonia Nantel, she is survived by her daughters Janine (Jean Rivard) and Marie (Georges C. Clermont); her grandchildren Louise, Michèle, Line, Pierre and Guy Rivard; Georges R., Anne-Marie and Jean-François Clermont; her seven great grandchildren; her sisters in law Claire Duranleau (late honourable René Duranleau) and Dr. Yvette Lemire (late Dr. Paul David) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Member of the Order of Canada, Grand officer of the Ordre national du Québec and Dame of the Order of Malta. She also held an honorary doctorate from Montreal’s Institut Armand Frappier.
In 1938, Simone Raymond co-founded Montreal’s Clinique BCG which became Hôpital Marie Enfant, and she remained as its managing director, mostly on a pro bono basis, until her retirement in 1975. She also sat on the Board of Directors of the Institut de cardiologie de Montréal and of the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society.

The family thanks the staff of the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal for the excellent care it provided Mrs. Raymond during the past year and a half.
