It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pieternella (Nel) van Eden on February 1st 2026, at the age of 95.

She leaves to mourn her sisters and brother:  Liesbeth, Henny and Dutchie, and was predeceased by her brothers Johan, Henk and Jan, as well as her parents, Johannes and Wijntje. Also left grieving are her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and family, both here and in the Netherlands, as well as her community from People’s Church.

Nel was born in the Netherlands and lived there until she moved to Montreal in the late 1960s. She worked for many years at Mackay Center helping physically disabled children, and then retired to her home in Brossard. She kept active by volunteering in the church, babysitting for family and friends, visiting many friends in hospitals, and traveling back home, to her beloved Netherlands.

Nel’s final years were spent at Residence Mont-Royal. Sincerest thanks to the staff there for the compassionate care they provided for her.

The family will receive condolences Wednesday February 11th 2026 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, 8145 Chemin de Chambly, St. Hubert. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm in the chapel, with burial after the service.
