Elsie Mildred Champ Wills
Elsie Mildred Wills (Champ) passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 104. Born October 27, 1921, Elsie lived a long and full life marked by a quiet faith in her Saviour and steady care for her family.
Elsie was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Wills (2004). She was a devoted mother to Jean Hall (and her late husband David Hall, 2020), Heather Jessurun of Australia (and her late husband Reinier, 2018), and the late Eleanor Jacobson of Tampa, Florida (Ken).
Elsie was a proud and loving grandmother to Chris (Rebekah), Stephanie (Michael), and Heather (Wajdi). Her seven great-grandchildren—Merrin, Gabriel, Seth, Isaac, Matthew, Lucas, and Lilah—knew her affectionately as “GG.”
She was predeceased by her brothers Harry, William, Alan, and Leslie Champ, and her sisters Margaret Millard and Doris Roberts States.
Elsie found joy in the simple, steady things: poetry and good books, time spent knitting, sewing, and gardening, playing Scrabble, and visiting with friends and family. She was known for her wonderful roast beef dinners, delicious pie pastry, and her homemade chili sauce with its signature kick. At Christmas, her family continues to make her eggnog recipe, a small tradition that still brings her close.
While not immediately outwardly evident, Elsie also had an adventurous spirit. She and Ken camped widely, road-tripping through almost all 50 states, and travelled to Australia and the UK together. She even spent many summers at Lake Macdonald living in a small trailer without running water.
Elsie will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude by the many who were shaped by her love, her skill, and her example.
Elsie’s friends, family, and loved ones are invited to her funeral, which will be held at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex (3955 chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse, Saint-Laurent, QC) on Wednesday, February 4. Visitation will begin at 11 am, with a memorial service at noon, followed by a brief burial service and reception.
