GISÈLE GIRGIS 
DECEMBER 18, 1936 – JANUARY 18, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gisèle Girgis 
Quietly and peacefully at home, with the sun brightly shining… 

Ms. Girgis departed peacefully, in her home in Kanata, Ontario, on January 18th,2026,6 after a brief illness. 
She leaves behind her children - Anna (Seneca [D]) Zetchus Smith, Kristina Zetchus (Eric Rickey), and Steven Zetchus. 
Ms. Girgis was the sister to the late Helene, Georgette, late Phillip, Evelyn, Emile (Amal), Fadia, Hoda, late Salwa, and Isis. 
She was cherished by her grandchildren – Hamlet, Indigo, Liberty, Jude, Alanna, and Alexandra. 
Ms. Girgis was predeceased by her former husband, Bernard Zetchus. 
And of course, Ms. Girgis was deeply loved by many cousins, nephews and nieces, and numerous friends. 

Ms. Girgis was “… a beaming light for so many of the lives she touched, unfailing in the care she showed others, and instrumental in the lives of all the international students she hosted.” 

 

Visitation will be held at Urgel Bourgie complex located at 1255 Beaumont Avenue, Mont Royal, QC, H3P 3J1.
Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, from 3 pm – 5 pm, and from 7 pm – 9 pm.

A funeral service will be held at St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church located at 7395 Garnier street, Montreal, QC H2E 2A1 on January 27, 2026 at 1:30 pm.
