Sinnapu James Thurairatnam

Sinnappu James Thurairatnam, lovingly known as Thurai, peacefully passed away on January 12th, 2026.

 

He was the beloved son of the late Anthonipillai Sinnappu and Agnes Nesamma, and the cherished son-in-law of the late Marithas Dominic and Mary Isabella.

 

Thurai was a devoted husband to the late Doreen Calista Joyce Thurairatnam, with whom he shared many years of partnership and was a loving father to Newman and Joyalene Thurairatnam.

 

Born into a family of twelve siblings, Thurai shared his childhood with Jeevaratnam, Pushparani, Thanarajah, Philomena, Maristela, Vijayaratnam, Christina, Beatrice, Gunaratnam, Jayaratnam, and Jacinda.

 

Thurai is fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law, Sharon George and son-in-law, Vinu Kesavan.

 

He was also the proud grandfather of Kian James Kesavan and Kaviya Lily Kesavan.

 

He is also remembered by his in-laws, Mary Lourdes Gunaratnam, Terence Joy, Grasion Roy, Royce, Bubsy, Rev. M.V.E. Ravichandran, Preamachandran, Sureshkumar, and many more extended family members.

 

After a long and courageous journey with his illness, Thurai is now at peace. The family warmly invites relatives, friends, and all whose lives he touched to join them in celebrating his life and sharing memories of a man who meant so much to so many.

 

The family will receive condolences on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and om Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Urgel Bourgie, located at 3955 chemin de la Côte de Liesse, Saint-Laurent.

 

A mass will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.  Our Lady of Deliverance Church located at 9400 Lajeunesse Street, Montreal.

 

The burial will follow the mass at 11:30 a.m. at Urgel Bourgie cemetery located at 3955 chemin de la Côte de Liesse, Saint-Laurent.
