Donald Paul Moroney

Donald Paul Moroney passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 at the age of 61.  Cherished Son of Bernard (2023) and Jeannine Moroney (2016) and loving brother of Louise Moroney (Peter Lyver).

He will be deeply missed by his nieces Emily Lyver (Alec Stuart) and Kelly Lyver, who will forever remember him as the funny and kid-at-heart Uncle. He was a beloved Nephew and Cousin to all in both the Moroney and Laferriere families.

An artist at heart, Don’s passion for animation was evident throughout his life. His medium of choice was expressed through his love of drawing of classical animation and character figures. He was an avid reader and collector of both graphic novels and film. So much more than his interests, he was known to be the kind of person you could always count on. Be it a kind word or unwavering support in a time of need. Always one to share his contagious sense of humor and sharp wit, often formulated through puns or his creative play on words. He was “The Guy” to always represent. Be it a wedding, birthday, funeral, you could always count on Don to be there.

He was a cherished friend to many, which became evident by the revolving door of countless visitors at both the hospital and the palliative care center.

Throughout his illness, Don maintained his unique sense of humor and fought bravely and stoically. Even in his most difficult moments he remained selfless. Always concerned more about those who were caring for him and those who remained by his side throughout his difficult journey.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to both the St. Mary’s Hospital Oncology Dept. for their unwavering support and care as he bravely battled Pancreatic cancer and the Sault Saint Louis Palliative Care Center when dignity and compassion were needed most as it became evident that all treatment possibilities had been exhausted.

We are forever grateful to the staff at the Sault St. Louis Palliative Care Center in LaSalle. Their compassion, kindness and exceptional level of care ensured that Don’s end of life journey was peaceful, loving and safe.

As such, in accordance with Don’s final wishes, no formal Funeral service will be held. Instead, the family has chosen to donate all monies to the Sault Saint Louis Palliative Care Center. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to please consider a donation to a palliative care center of your choice.

We will hold an informal celebration of life in the late spring so that all those who attend can travel safely. Date and time to be confirmed.

The ink of his kindness and laughter remains on every page we turn.
